New Zealand Endeavour 1993-94

The 1993–94 Whitbread Round the World Race was the sixth edition of the around-the-world sailing event. For the first time a purpose-built class - the Whitbread 60 - competed alongside the multi-class Maxis.
Replicating the route of the 1990-91 edition of the Race, fifteen teams departed Southampton on the 25th of September 1993.
The race was won by New Zealand skipper Grant Dalton onboard the Maxi New Zealand Endeavour, featured in this photograph. Grant Dalton, another of The Ocean Race’s legends, competed in a total of five Races and currently manages Emirates Team New Zealand – the current holders of the America’s Cup.
